411 Pain Wants YOU To Save Money On Gas

411 Pain Wants YOU To Save Money On Gas

Even if you do not take a lot of road trips, you may be spending more than you need to on daily driving.

411-Pain has the following suggestions for saving you money at the pump:

1) Make sure your car is in good condition.
This includes getting a tune up and making sure your air filter is clean. You may be getting 10% less gas mileage if your filter is clogged.

2) Don't fill up until you're almost out.
Your car is lighter with the tank less full, thus getting more mileage out of your gas.

3) Make sure your gas cap is on tight to prevent unnecessary evaporation.

4) Find the lowest price before hand.
Driving around looking for cheap gas is using up your gas! Check prices online and call first to double check and make sure they're open for business.

5) Don't get your gas at the busy intersections or right next to the highway. There are often cheaper places a bit down the road.

6) Get things delivered.
Most things can be ordered online for cheaper, plus saving you money on gas by saving a trip.

7) Avoid the stops.
Even if a route is shorter, you will use more gas if there are a lot of stop signs or red lights.

8) Make sure your tires are fat.
Filling your tires to the maximum limit will give you better gas mileage.

9) Easy does it.
Accelerating slowly and rolling to a stop will use less gas then abrupt stop and go driving.

10) Keep your windows closed on the highway.
When driving at high speeds the air drag will reduce your gas mileage by 10%

But the BEST way to save money on gas is to listen every Friday to 102 Jamz Orlando!

411 Pain's Where the Rubber Meets the Road

Where the Rubber Meets the Road

Your tires can be the cause of roadway accidents or they can prevent
them. Far too many motorists
take tires for granted. 411 Pain reminds all motorists,  just like the
engine under the hood needs maintenance and attention so do your tires.

A Tire safety  cites under inflation as the leading cause of tire
failure.  Not only are under inflated tires more prone to damage,
the website finds they can also cause a
drive up the price of gas. Estimates range anywhere between 3 to 5¢
per gallon.

Maintaining your tires isn't very expensive, but ignoring them can
prove costly and possibly deadly.  At least once a month 411 Pain
recommends performing a few simple checks.

1.  Look at your tires for signs of puncture wounds.  Tires pick up
all kinds of debris on the road like nails, pieces of metal, and small
rocks. If you spot anything impaled in your tires take it immediately
into a tire store. You may not need a brand new tire, but a simple
patch or minor repair. But 411Pain says that call should only be made
by a professional.

2. Check the tread on all of your tires for signs of wear and tear
like cracks or bulges.  If you don't get your tires rotated regularly,
the tread may be uneven, leaving you vulnerable to accidents or
injury.  You can measure the tire tread depth with a quarter. Simply
slide the coin in between the grooves and if  you can see all of
President George Washington's  head it's time to replace the tire.

3. 411 Pain recommends you get your tires rotated every 5000 miles,
but double check your vehicle's owner's manual. How far you drive and
how often you drive may affect the frequency and pattern of tire
rotation.

4. If you find your car is pulling to one side or the other or if your
steering wheel is shaking an alignment may be in order.  Striking
curbs and speed bumps can knock your tires off balance which in turn
affects your alignment.

In 2003 The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration finds flat
tires and or blowouts were factors in nearly 79,400 crashes.  414
people lost their lives and another 10,275 suffered non-fatal injuries
all of which could have been avoided with proper tire maintenance.

411 Pain reminds us without tires, we can go nowhere fast.  Give them
their due diligence or you may find yourself traveling on the path to
danger.

The study says that the average American driver gets into a car accident once every 10 years. This year the title of  America's safest driving city, goes to Sioux Falls, South Dakota while the worst drivers for a second time in a row are located in our nations capitol, Washington, D.C.  Here is the list of the 25 top worst drivers in the country:

1.    Washington, DC                  14. Los Angeles
2.    Baltimore, MD                    15. Paterson, NJ
3.    Providence, RI                    16. Fullerton, CA

This list does not imply that all drivers are bad, it tells us these areas have a higher rate of accidents do to factors such as: weather, road conditions, traffic, number of cars per capita and socio cultural stress levels. Individuals who live and drive in major metropolitan areas, especially the ones on the list, have to keep a watchful eye not only in what they do, but also in the conduct of other drivers. 411 Pain understands that there are many factors that can cause an accident. Many car accidents are unplanned and others are caused from distractions that could have been easily avoided. At 411 Pain we recommend that no matter where you live and drive, obeying traffic laws and using your car’s safety features like turn signals, headlights, and avoiding distraction inside and outside your vehicle are all ways to be safer.

These statistics demonstrate just how car accidents can happen to any driver especially in crowded busy metropolitan areas. As a company dedicated to driver safety, 1-800-411-Pain strongly advises drivers to pay attention when driving and operating a vehicle. Even small distractions can lead to accidents.

411 Pain and Child Car Safety: Part 2

In the Garage or driveway

At  411 Pain we understand how important the safety of your children is, and we know vehicles can still be a danger even if they are not in them. In the US alone, every week, 50 children are injured due to vehicles hitting them while backing up. Unfortunately two of those are fatalities. In 70% of these cases the driver of the vehicle is a parent, grandparent, aunt, or older sibling. The best suggestion we can give readers is:

Backing In- When possible turn and back up on your way in to the driveway, so you can drive straight out when you leave, with a clear view of what's ahead of you.

Inside the Car
A car can still be very dangerous even if not in motion. Never leave your children alone in a car. There are many risks to a child's safety if left alone inside such as:

Heat stroke- To often do we hear of infants and children dying  from dehydration due to parents leaving them in the car, not only is it dangerous but can become a matter of the law.

Vehicle in motion-  Children are energetic and tend to play inside cars when they are bored. This can cause them to accidentally set the car in motion and find themselves in the middle of a busy road.

Power accessories- Having electric devices and heavy object inside the car with children can be a potential hazard to their health and safety.

Car crashes- Even if your car is not in motion children should not be inside if not necessary, another driver could collide into your vehicle harming the passengers who may not even be wearing a seat belt.

Kidnapping- Not very common but occasionally unattended children have been know to be taken from a vehicle.

Here are some suggestions that can reduce the chance of injuries and ensure child safety around vehicles

·      Keep vehicles locked at all times, even if its in your garage or driveway.
·      Don’t leave the vehicles keys within the reach of children.
·      Inform your children to never play in or around vehicles.
·      Make sure all children have left the vehicle after you park.
·      When a child is missing, check vehicles and trunks immediately.
·      If a child is locked inside a vehicle, get them out quickly.

At 1-800-411-Pain we emphasize the importance on child safety and educate parents so that they may teach their children the rules and safety precautions needed to be safe. At 411 Pain we believe in parents establishing the foundation for a lifelong habit of seat belt use every time your child travels. 411 Pain and Child Car Safety: Part 1

Each year a large number of children are injured or loose their lives do to car accidents. In the US alone more than 140,000 children go to emergency rooms each year as a result of car related accidents.  For children over age 3 auto accidents are the leading cause of death. Most of these accidents occur because children do not sit safely in cars, either they are not properly positioned in car or booster seats, air bags or because they sit in the front seat. Here at 1-800-411-Pain we understand the dangers of driving a vehicle and that a parents number 1 priority is the safety of their children. Here are some of the most common child related car accidents that can be avoided.

Child car seats
Properly seating a child in a car or booster seat, and in the back ,can reduce the risk of injury or death, but many parents don’t know how to follow safety procedures. According to the AAP children under age 2, should sit in rear-facing seats, and children over age 2 should sit in front-facing seats with harnesses until their weight & height exceeds the car seat's capacity. The best car seat is not always the most expensive one. It’s the one that best fits a child's size, weight, and age, as well as adapting to your vehicle. According to the AAP the rear seat is the safest place in the car for children younger than 13 years.

Air bags
Even though they were created to save lives, air bags can be dangerous for children during a collision. The air bag is designed to come out of the dashboard when an impact occurs. When they come out, the speed and force can injure your children. Most cases their small fragile bodies can’t handle the impact.  To avoid this never place an infant in a front seat. Even if they are on a safety seat the impact of the air bag will still cause damage. It’s safer and more prudent to have them in the back seat.

Children that are 13 and older need to wear their seat belt when riding in the front seat. Air bags are designed to work with the belt to protect the occupant in the event of a crash. Even if your child is 13 or older they still can get hurt, to avoid this here are some suggestions to keep your child safe in the front seat:

·             Move the front seat as far back as possible from the dashboard
·             Teach your child not to lean forward this includes playing with the radio
·             Insist that your child sit upright against the seatback, with the seat belt firm at all times

If you still have questions regarding safety with children car seats or air bags, read vehicle manufacturers’ instructions for their recommendations.

At 1-800-411-Pain we emphasize the importance on child safety and educate parents so that they may teach their children the rules and safety precautions needed to be safe. At 411 Pain we believe in parents establishing the foundation for a lifelong habit of seat belt use every time your child travels. Gas Saving Tips from 411 Pain

Gas Saving Tips from 411 Pain

You have probably noticed that in the last several years, gas prices have risen significantly in our country.  “According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is up more than 8 percent since the start of 2012, rising from $3.25 per gallon to $3.50 (businessweek.com).” In an effort to save money, many have implemented more fuel-efficient transportation alternatives. Such as: carpooling, purchasing more fuel-efficient cars, utilizing smaller vehicles such as motorcycles and scooters, and relying on public transportation.

Understanding the public’s difficulty keeping up with rising gas prices, 411 Pain has generously offered free gas to the South Florida community. 411 Pain has done so in order to help individuals save money in tough times. In addition to providing free gas, 1 800 411 Pain offers advice which help lower fuel costs without having to change vehicles or drive any less.

Avoid aggressive driving, which is defined as speeding, rapid acceleration and braking, can lower your gas mileage by as much as 33 percent at highway speeds. This totals nearly $1.30 per gallon. Studies have shown that speeding also considerably decreases gas mileage. Traveling at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour can decrease gas mileage by as much as $0.31 for every five miles per hour over 60. Removing excess weight is a very good way to increase fuel efficiency as well. “An extra 100 pounds in the trunk decreases a typical vehicle‘s fuel economy by up to two percent. You can save up to nine gallons of gasoline per year (nearly 40 dollars) by removing an extra 100 pounds of unneeded items from the trunk (drivesmarterchallenge.org).” Carrying items on the hood of a car can also decrease fuel efficiency, as this increases drag. Decreasing the amount of drag a car experiences while being driven can increase its fuel efficiency by up to five percent.

A properly maintained vehicle is one of the best approaches to battling high fuel costs. Making sure the tires are properly inflated, replacing the air filters regularly, and keeping up with scheduled tune-ups and oil changes are all key factors in ensuring a vehicle’s fuel efficiency is at its best. “Keeping your tires properly inflated is simple and improves gas mileage by around three percent, saving up to 14 gallons of gasoline. This averages out to around $56. Fixing a car that is noticeably out of tune or has failed an emissions test can improve its gas mileage by an average of 4%, saving up to twenty gallons of gasoline. Fixing a faulty oxygen sensor can improve mileage by as much as forty percent, saving up to 320 gallons of gasoline (drivesmarterchallenge.org).” This adds up to a total savings of $1,218.

1 800 411 Pain understands that the steadily increasing gas prices are making it difficult for many people to continue driving regularly. This is why we have committed ourselves to give away free gas cards and inform the public of ways in which they can reduce fuel costs. Accident Involving Ferrari GTO
Leads to Most Expensive Car Crash Ever

Last December, eight Ferraris, three Mercedes and a Lamborghini collided on a freeway in Japan, causing an estimated four million dollars in damage. At the time, this was considered the most expensive car accident of all time. Last week this record car crash’s total cost in damages was topped by over thirty million dollars.
A Ferrari GTO, a car widely recognized as the Picasso of the motor-vehicle world, was involved in an accident in France. Only 36 Ferrari GTOs were made between 1962 and 1963. The car is worth an estimated thirty to thirty-five million dollars. The car’s owner, U.S. businessman Christopher Cox, was driving the vehicle during the 50th anniversary celebration of the rare model when he was hit by another car. No one was injured in the accident.
Though there was extensive damage done to a valuable vehicle, 1 800 411 Pain is pleased that no one was injured in the crash.

Single Car Accident Causes 867
People to Lose Power

A single car accident in Southern California caused a total of 867 residents to lose power on the morning of July 3rd. The crash occurred on Harbor Boulevard, north of Kashlan Road. Deputy Suzanne Talley reports that a truck struck a power pole, causing the wires to fall to the ground. No one was injured in the accident and drugs or alcohol are not thought to have been a factor. Aside from the large number of people who were left without power, those involved were very fortunate.
This story demonstrates just how quickly a car accident can occur and how much damage one can inflict with little or no warning. As a company dedicated to driver safety, 1 800 411 Pain strongly advises motorists to focus as closely on driving as possible when operating a vehicle. Even small distractions can lead to enormous accidents.
