411 Pain Stands Against Drunk Driving
The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Association) reports that over 275,000 people were injured in alcohol related auto accidents in 2003. According to DontDieDrunk.org, “Drunk drivers kill someone approximately every 48 minutes. In 2009, 1.4 million people were arrested for driving under the influence. This is less than 1% of the amount self reported by adults. Alcohol-related crashes in the United States cost the public an estimated $114.3 billion in 2000.”
411 Pain would like to remind you that the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle becomes significantly impaired while intoxicated. Drivers make decisions they would not normally make. For example, 39-year-old Dennis Carroll of Nyack, NY crashed into a boat at Petersen’s Boat Yard yesterday. The impact knocked the boat over, causing an estimated $30,000 in damage. Carroll was found to be intoxicated at the scene and a background check showed that he had previously been convicted of driving while intoxicated. 411 Pain strongly urges individuals not to drink and drive. They would like to see the roads a safer place for everyone.
