411 Pain Wants YOU To Save Money On Gas

411 Pain Wants YOU To Save Money On Gas

Even if you do not take a lot of road trips, you may be spending more than you need to on daily driving.

411-Pain has the following suggestions for saving you money at the pump:

1) Make sure your car is in good condition.
This includes getting a tune up and making sure your air filter is clean. You may be getting 10% less gas mileage if your filter is clogged.

2) Don't fill up until you're almost out.
Your car is lighter with the tank less full, thus getting more mileage out of your gas.

3) Make sure your gas cap is on tight to prevent unnecessary evaporation.

4) Find the lowest price before hand.
Driving around looking for cheap gas is using up your gas! Check prices online and call first to double check and make sure they're open for business.

5) Don't get your gas at the busy intersections or right next to the highway. There are often cheaper places a bit down the road.

6) Get things delivered.
Most things can be ordered online for cheaper, plus saving you money on gas by saving a trip.

7) Avoid the stops.
Even if a route is shorter, you will use more gas if there are a lot of stop signs or red lights.

8) Make sure your tires are fat.
Filling your tires to the maximum limit will give you better gas mileage.

9) Easy does it.
Accelerating slowly and rolling to a stop will use less gas then abrupt stop and go driving.

10) Keep your windows closed on the highway.
When driving at high speeds the air drag will reduce your gas mileage by 10%

411 PAIN Urges You To PLEASE: Do not Drink And Drive!

411 PAIN Urges You To PLEASE: Do not Drink And Drive!

Now that it's 2013, it's time once again to remind everyone of the dangers of drunk driving.
Though everyone KNOWS not to drink and drive, and the message is constantly being told, the facts on drunk driving are staggering.

411 Pain asks that you consider these:

1 in 3 of all Americans will be involved in a drunk driving accident during their lifetime

Alcohol-impaired driving fatalities accounted for 31% of the total vehicle traffic fatalities in 2010.

The deadliest drunk-driving accident in the U.S. occurred in 1988 on Interstate 71 in Kentucky when a drunk driver with a BAC level of .24 g/dL caused a head-on collision with a school bus. The crash and ensuing fire killed 27 people (most of them children) and injured 34 others.

Beer is the most common type of alcoholic beverage involved in both DUI arrests and fatal crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA). It is also the drink of choice in most cases of binge drinking and underage drinking.

Nearly 75% of drunk drivers involved in fatal collisions are not wearing their seat belts.

The highest rates of drunk driving occur among drivers aged 21-24. This age group makes up 35% of alcohol-impaired drivers involved in fatal collisions.

On average, someone in the U.S. is killed by a drunk driver every 40 minutes.

Nearly 75 percent of fatal crashes between midnight and 3 a.m. involve alcohol.

In 2010 there were a total of 10,228 alcohol related driving fatalities. There were 1,228 deaths of people under 21. Here are the numbers by state: (first is total, second is under 21)
